To protect children from suffocation, the shell halves are designed in accordance with the standard so that they cannot be sealed airtight or watertight. Due to the unevenness of the two contact surfaces, there is sufficient ventilation all around once the shell is closed. BIG therefore recommends covering the shell after playing to protect it from contamination and moisture.
