Yamato - a battleship built during World War II and served in the Imperial Japanese Navy. This is the first Yamato-class warship, which, along with its sister ship Musashi, was the largest battleship built in the history of mankind. The main idea behind the construction of such powerful warships was the arms race with the United States, which dominated the Pacific. The construction of the Yamato began in 1937, and it was commissioned on December 16, 1941, a week after the attack on Pearl Harbor. The ship was armed, among other things, with nine monstrous 460 mm guns. Its total length was 263 meters, width 38.9 meters, draft 11 meters and displacement 65,000 tons. It reached a maximum speed of 27 knots (50 km/h). Almost 2,500 people served on the ship. It was sunk on April 7, 1945 in a major battle by American torpedo planes and bombers.
The Yamato battleship is a huge model made of COBI building blocks. Like other warships, it was designed in a 1:300 scale model. The latest edition is even more faithful to its historical model, down to the smallest detail. After assembling the 2,665 elements, the total circumference is 90 cm long and 19.5 cm high. It has many moving elements, such as: onboard guns and anti-aircraft batteries, rotating artillery turrets, rudders and propellers. The set includes a special display stand with a plate on which the name of the ship is printed. A nice addition is a unique brick imitating the Golden Orchid, i.e. the imperial symbol that adorned the bow of the ship. The model is perfect for all lovers of history, military, naval and military technology. It looks great and arouses admiration and interest! Thanks to the intuitive instructions based on clear symbols, the assembly is simple and easy. The estimated time to build a model is about 8 hours while we make history!
