Star\" in The Tank Museum in Great Britain. A distinctive feature of this unusual vehicle is its multi-turreted construction! The tank has as many as five rotating turrets! The largest is equipped with a 3-pounder cannon. The remaining four are armed with a Vickers machine gun. The order for a heavy multi-turreted tank was issued by the General Staff of the British Army in 1924. In 1926, a prototype of the tank was presented. Due to lack of financial resources, further work on this project was discontinued. The design solutions used in the Independent were also used in the later designs of the British Medium Mark III and Cruiser Mark I. The designs of the Soviet T-28, T-35 and T-100 tanks are also surprisingly similar to the Vickers Independent and this is no coincidence.
