Claude Monet painted this world-famous picture in 1886. In this work, he shows himself to be a great master of color and light and an admirer of feminine grace. He depicted his charming stepdaughter Suzanne Hoschedé in a white jacket dress and with a parasol. She is taking a walk on a beautiful summer day and is coquettishly protecting herself from the bright sun with her umbrella. He loved this picture so much that he never wanted to part with it for the rest of his life. The Louvre only acquired it a year after his death and since 1986 it has been part of the collection of the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
