Pinto is Spanish and means something like painted. Pintos have unique, beautiful coat markings that give the horses even more personality. Despite this, pintos do not constitute a breed of their own. They are a color breed that can be found in almost all breeds. The coat patterns are divided into overo and tobiano. Overos have colored fur with white markings. Their heads are often completely white. This is called a lantern. Tobianos, on the other hand, have white fur with colored markings. Their legs and backs usually remain white.
