Fascination of the animal world: wildness, beauty, uniqueness
Wild Life: African bull elephant
Male elephants grow significantly larger than female elephants. At almost four meters tall, they are the second largest land animals after giraffes. They also weigh five to six tons, making them the heaviest of all land animals. African elephant bulls usually separate from their herd at around twelve years of age. They are then grown up enough to find their own food and defend themselves, and they roam the land with other bulls or alone - looking for another herd.
An elephant's memory is very strong: even after many years, it can remember where watering holes are or recognize elephants from whom it has been separated. They recognize their own reflection in a mirror. Very few animals can do this apart from them.
