Fascination of the animal world: wildness, beauty, uniqueness
Wild Life: Male Giraffe
Giraffe bulls are the largest land animals, reaching up to six metres in length. Their necks can be two and a half metres long and weigh up to 250 kilograms. Despite this, like us humans, they only have seven cervical vertebrae. When two giraffe bulls fight, they bang their heads against each other's necks.
Male giraffes are so big that they can look through the window on the second floor of a building and say hello. Their tongues can grow up to 50 centimeters long, are resistant to prickly leaves, and have an unusual color: dark blue. The color protects them from sunburn when giraffes wrap them around leaves and pluck them. Even animals as big as giraffes need to sleep between meals. If there is no danger, they lie down for a nap, but in the wild they sleep mostly standing up.
Scientific name: Giraffa camelopardalis

Distribution area: Africa
Main habitat: savannah, forests and bushland
