Caroll Shelby is an American racing driver who had to end his career in 1960 at the age of 37 for health reasons. He then devoted himself to the vision of designing the ultimate American sports car to compete with Ferrari and Porsche. He found a suitable chassis at the British car manufacturer AC Bristol. With its Ford V8 engine, the car proved to be a success and broke numerous speed records. Compared to the much heavier Corvettes, the lightweight "muscle man" was a miracle in terms of speed and amazed America. In 1965, the 427 was introduced: with a revised chassis, widened track, tires and fenders and equipped with a super-powerful 7-liter V8 engine (427 cubic inches) that delivered an incredible 410 hp. Solido produced the AC Cobra in 1:18 scale from die-cast zinc. The model features a variety of lovely details, such as opening doors and functioning steering.
