Whoever charges must also be able to discharge again!
Each player moves his ship from port to port to load it with barrels - preferably for free - which he then sells for doubloons elsewhere. Unloading what you have loaded is child's play and actually always works... if you didn't keep putting all those barrels on deck in your own way so stupidly that you just never get them off the ship again!
From island harbor to island harbor, 2-4 players steer their own ship From West to East. This new label is used to introduce the refreshingly simple moves with which the Italian author Giansimone Migoni makes it easy for young and old to enter the world of family games with depth: whoever is content with a - rather modest - anchorage in the west always goes first. Things are noticeably more lucrative in the far east of each island. But whoever enriches themselves there can only set sail again when all the other players have already brought everything on board in the next harbor that is no longer available.
The moorings we head for offer not only cheap and expensive barrels but also hard-working sailors who can secure the ship against windy pirates and even windier hurricanes and who can also use the skills of real sailors to bring in a few extra doubloons for the ship's coffers. But treasure maps for finding a little gold along the way can also be loaded into the ship's luggage at some of the better anchorages.
But what is really decisive for victory or defeat is another clever innovation in the game: Which players actually manage - from a purely physical point of view - to remove individual barrels from their ship's deck - a separate spatial playing area? The rule for this is also as simple and realistic as possible: Anyone who puts other barrels in the way of their own barrels will end up unloading nothing...
A modular game board that provides each game with a new scenario by simply repositioning it makes Full Barrel Ahead a family game that transforms every gaming table into a deep-sea adventure.
